Darby Sider, M.D.
Dr. Sider joined VHMA in 1995. She graduated
with honors from the University of Virginia in 1985 having earned a BS
in Education, specializing in Sports Medicine. She continued her
postgraduate work at the University of Virginia until 1989 when she
graduated with a degree in medicine. While at the University of
Virginia she was a member of several honor societies and was one of
four students in her class to serve on the medical school's admission
committee. In June, 1993 she completed a dual residency in Internal
Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina in Chapel
Hill, one of the original combined internal medicine/pediatric training
programs.
Upon completion
of her residency Dr. Sider and her husband moved to Los Angeles. Her
husband, Dr. Barry Hummel, who is a pediatrician, wanted to pursue a
career in the film industry. Dr. Sider worked for the Los Angeles
County Department of Health services where she cared for patients and
supervised residents training at Olive View Medical Center as well as
the Glendale and Van Nuys County Health Centers.
Dr. Sider now
lives in Glendale with her husband, and their children, Abigail and
Zachary. Dr. Sider specializes in the outpatient care of both adults
and children from newborns to seniors. She has particular interests in
preventative medicine as well as in the chronic care of patients
suffering from asthma, diabetes and heart disease. She enjoys
traveling, hiking, and photography. She also is very involved in the
sale of children's books from her home.
Our
primary care services are intended for the evaluation and treatment of
elective, non-urgent medical problems, on-going health care needs and
wellness services for adults and children in a more traditional private
practice setting. Patients can select from among an excellent staff a
provider that best suits their individual personality and needs.
Services are rendered on an appointment basis to allow for continuity
of care with the patient's requested preferred provider.
Our
provider staff consists of physicians and mid-level providers that are
board certified in the fields of internal medicine, family practice and
pediatrics. This extensive array of skill and knowledge allows for us
to effectively care for a wide age range of patients, their needs and
their wants such as:
Individualized needs assessment and on-going care and management of
chronic, ongoing medical problems such as high blood pressure, heart
disease, asthma, diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD), peptic ulcer disease, etc.
Preventative
and wellness physical examinations and services
Extensive
immunization program for preventable diseases
Risk factor
assessment for such problems as cardiovascular disease, diabetes,
cancers, etc.
Hospitalization for continuity of care, if necessary,
coordination of specialists' care
Disease
