You're in charge!
To take an active part in your health, you need to understand what?s happening.
Dr. LaGrelius thoroughly explains each procedure and recommendation to make sure that you know what he's doing and why. This doctor-patient communication is
vital; the more you learn, the more you can take charge of your health.
Dr. LaGrelius advocates preventive health screening measures and illness
prevention education. He incorporates these concepts into periodic medical
check-ups that he strongly recommends.
In case of emergency:
Because illnesses and injuries don't always happen during office hours, the
doctor is available to you 24 hours a day.
For established patients, the doctor will sometimes meet you at the office for
minor emergencies. Some can be taken care of on the phone. In case of serious
illness, established patients should call Dr. LaGrelius before going to the
hospital if possible. Let him decide the most appropriate action.
If you are in a life-threatening situation, call 911 for paramedic assistance,
then have someone call Dr. LaGrelius also. First call the office at (310)
378-6208, tell the staff you have an emergency and they will connect you
directly with Dr. LaGrelius. After hours, the office line is usually forwarded
directly to Dr. LaGrelius' cell phone and he usually answers it directly. If he
cannot answer, you will be prompted to page him using his pager. If the doctor
is out of town, you will be prompted to call an "on call" doctor.
Please make routine and non-urgent calls only during office hours. Remember Dr.
LaGrelius answers his own office line after hours and at night routinely.
Dr. LaGrelius accepts a few of the better PPO insurance policies. He does NOT
contract with any HMO contracts. In this way, he is able to maintain high
quality, detailed care and immediate accessibility to private patients. Patients
may use HMO or PPO out-of-network (POS) Point of Service options.
