Matthew
S. Lief, MD, PA, FACS
As a urologist, Dr. Lief is highly trained to
treat disorders of the male and female urinary tract (bladder, ureter,
kidney and urethra) and the male reproductive system. Urology is
classified as a surgical subspecialty, but since a wide variety of
clinical problems are encountered when treating urological conditions,
knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and other
specialties is required.
Matthew Lief, M.D., FACS
Dr. Lief received his bachelor of arts degree from Syracuse University
and his
medical degrees from the University of State of New York, Downstate
Medical Center and the University of Noreste. He served his residencies
at Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center, Lutheran Medical Center,
and Downstate Medical Center. He also had a research fellowship at Beth
Israel Medical Center. Dr. Lief has had additional medical experience
working as house physician, medical director, and physician in charge.
He was named chief of surgery at numerous medical centers as well as
being an active member of committees and review boards.
Dr. Lief has been very active in giving presentations and
lectures. He has done a great deal of work at various conferences and
courses, has served as an investigator on many research projects, and
has also published articles.
Certified by the American Board of Urology and a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons, Dr. Lief is chairman of the peer review
committee and an expert witness for the state of Florida. He is a
member of numerous societies, including the American Medical
Association, American Urology Association, and Society of Clinical
Urologists. He is very active in the community and has volunteered his
time with many different organizations.
