Detail Personal and Practice Information:

Dr. Scuderi is a solo cardiologist. His patients enjoy the comfort of knowing that they may reach him 24-hours daily. While Dr. Scuderi has an impeccable record as an interventional cardiologist and performs coronary angioplasty and stenting, pacemaker implantation, and transesophageal echocardiography, among other procedures, his practice is primarily focused upon preventive cardiology. As such, his goal is to achieve an improved level of cardiovascular well-being for his patients.

His cardiology practice is fully-equipped with state-of-the-art technology including exercise treadmill testing; stress echo testing; two-dimensional, M-mode, Doppler and Color-flow imaging echocardiography; and high-resolution, 24-hour Holter heart rhythm monitoring.

Athletes, as well as those who wish to become more physically-fit, are provided with personalized cardiovascular performance testing. Complete assessment of one's current cardiovascular status may exclude potentially life-threatening disorders and thereby provide the individual with the confidence to exercise safely.

You are encouraged to read Dr. Scuderi's 10-part treatise on Sudden Cardiac Death and Exercise - a Risk-Benefit Assessment. You may do so by clicking on the "About Your Health" icon on the INDOC home page. Or Click HERE.

MEDICAL EDUCATION

In 1981, Dr. Scuderi graduated with Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude honors as he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Medical Biology at the University of Utah.

In 1985, he graduated in the top of his class as he received his medical degree at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

In 1988, he completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach. In 1988, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned board-certification as an internist.

In 1991, he again became a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned subspecialty board-certification in cardiovascular diseases.

In 1992, he completed a four-year cardiology fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio where he was honored with the National Research Service Award by the National Institute of Health for his research in echocardiography and single-lung transplantation. Dr. Scuderi then joined his wife in San Francisco as she completed her own residency training. His first 2 years of cardiology practice in San Francisco were dedicated to the care of indigent individuals.

In 1994, he was elected a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Then he and his wife moved back to southern California and they began their respective medical practices here in the South Bay. During his first 9 years of cardiology practice, Dr. Scuderi has distinguished himself with an excellent reputation. He is well-respected by his colleagues, and his patients know him as a truly dedicated and personable physician.

BILLING INFORMATION

This office is dedicated to providing superior, personalized cardiology care. Dr. Scuderi does not participate in any managed care programs.

Cash patients are welcome and are given discounts for payment at the time of service. Fees are negotiable if the need exists.

Medicare is accepted, and patients are encouraged to enroll in the Medicare Medical Savings Account option (MSA) when it becomes available.

Many PPOs are accepted, but Dr. Scuderi resigns promptly from any PPO that seeks to manage medical care or does not adequately cover the actual cost of quality, personalized care. Dr. Scuderi encourages HMO patients with a "point of service" option to seek care here.

The staff will help patients get the most out of such restrictive insurance plans, but the patient remains responsible for costs not covered by insurance. Because of these financial policies, Dr. Scuderi is able to see fewer patients, spend more time, and provide each patient with personalized healthcare.
